April 20, 2005

Dear all,
As you must have noted, there has been a long periode of silence from the side of ERSO.
This is NOT because we couldn't do anything...
This is NOT because we didn't want to communicate anything...
It is just that we need a bit more time to have all internal communications synchronized. And with so many people involved...
In the last two months, we have received numerous offers from skippers and coaches to become a member of this years Eu-Rope-Skip-Staff. Sometimes we have replied immediately to the applicants, sometimes we just couldn't.
Because of this, this NewsFlash tells you in which stage of the procedure we are in right now:
| 1 | Presently we are collecting all applications from skippers, coache and organizations. They were send, communicated to various persons and contactaddresses. Right now we are putting them all in one file and list them chrnologically. Because the ones who applied first will be treated as such of course. |
| 2 | Next step is to look into the experiences in the past. We look at the experiences between ERSO and the applicant, as well as the applicants references. This of course will be the main criteria for fullfilling the function as a Staffer; of course more importent then the date of the application. |
| 3 | Then we will contact the applicants NRSO. The NRSO can tell ERSO the position of the applicant in the National Organization. For instance: There could be financial disputes, that ERSO is not aware of. The NRSO can then give their advice on the applicant, which will be a guideline for ERSO weather or not to continue with the applicant. |
| 4 | The last step will be to get in touch (again) with the skipper, coach or NRSO who applied for the function. |
Because of this procedure, the coming week is expected to be the finalizing of collecting all applications. This results in the following timeframe:
|
Until April 22 2005, 20:00 |
Last possibility to send in your application. |
|
April 22 2005, 22:00 |
The final list with applicants will be send to the NRSO's. |
|
Until April 25 2005, 18:00 |
NRSO can then send in their questions, remarks and concerns related to the applicant from their country to ERSO. |
|
April 26 2005, 08:00 |
If possible (we don't have all E-mail-adresses of all applicants), each applicant will receive an E-mail with the status of his/her application. |
|
April 27 2005, 08:00 |
The final list with all Staffers will be published on the ERSO-website. |
April 27 2005, 08:00
to
May 1st |
Each applicant that wasn't accepted to become a staffer can take still take care of becomming a camper and his/her payment to BRSA to still get the 5% discount. |
After that we can proceed on taking the next step(s). I hope we haven't kept you waiting to long.
With skipping regards,
Eric Herber
Eu-Rope-Skip Junior and Senior Staff
Februay 23, 2005

Dear Board-members, Coaches, JuniorStaffers and skippers,
After last NewsFlash (dated February 18) several skippers and coaches E-mailed BRSA or ERSO with the question on how to become a Novice-, Junior- or SeniorStaffer for this years Eu-Rope-Skip. Because of this we publish the procedure.
What are some of the qualifications?!
- (Almost) perfect speaking English
- Coaching skills and experience(s)
- Technical skills
More information is available at: the Matrix.
If you think your answers to the three previous questions are positive, then there are several procedures:
1) You are interested as a person and you think you are qualified enough to teach Level 1-2 or Level 3. In this case you E-mail directly to Novice-Staff-2005@ERSO.org or Junior-Staff-2005@ERSO.org. Best of course would be to add your references to this E-mail. ERSO and BRSA will then contact the NRSO (= National Rope Skipping Organization) to ask their opinion about you. Not only technical and teaching skills, but also financial standing (= no debts to the NRSO).
2) Your NRSO thinks you are capable, as well as available to be a Junior- or SeniorStaffer. Your NRSO will contact you directly and ERSO or BRSA directly.
3) ERSO or BRSA thinks you are capable of fulfilling the job. Then we will contact you first. This will be done in the week of March 1st! And when you reply with a positive answer, then we will contact your NRSO.
4) If you think you have more skills and experience then the average, then you can apply as Senior-Staffer. For this you mail to Senior-Staff-2005@ERSO.org.
If everything is positive, then you will be added to the list, which shows the most up-to-date numbers of Staffers and participants to this years event. This list will be on the ERSO-website, as well as in a regularly send NewsFlash. Just as we did with Paris 2003!
Why should you do it?
- Because you don't earn any money; except that you won't have to pay your food and housing from 23rd to 28th July. (So for you who can not calculate that fast: GBP 225.00 for (max) 20 hours teaching = GBP 11.25 = Euro 16.61 per hour...)
- Because you will be skipping again; and that's something you are already doing the whole year through.
- Because you meet others; but then you'll have to talk at least English.
- THAT'S why you should do it!!!! Can you think of better reasons?!?!?
Sure you can!!! Spain will be for the first time in ERSO-history present with teams and skippers!!! Australians will join in again. As will American and Canadian skippers and coaches. But also skippers from all over Europe will be present again!
So don't hesitate and contact us!!
Just one fast suggestion. Look at the smaller airlines and book your ticket now!! For instance: http://www.Thomsonfly.com. Amsterdam - Coventry for just under Euro 70.00!!!

Eu-Rope-Skip-2005
Bussum, 2005-02-18
Dear Board-members, Coaches, JuniorStaffers and skippers,
After al lot of talking and exchanging ideas ERSO decided in November 2004 that
it would be a vary good idea to continue International Rope Skipping camps. But not any longer as it was until Paris 2003.
Camp became too big and the atmosphere as well as management were affected from
the sides of the organizatio, as well as from the sides of the coaches and
skippers.
You all have heard and read already that in July 2005 there will be two
International camps in Loughborough (UK)!
The reason for doing this can be found in the Matrix. Please
take a look at this 'document' and see the logic behind the system!!
Level 1 & 2 camp
This camp is under the responsibility of BRSA. In this camp Beginner and Low-Intermediate skills will be taught to everybody attending camp. The staff will
be invited from all over Europe with additional staffers from USA, Australia and Canada and will consist of Level-3-Skippers, as well as coaches with
International experience.
Level 3 camp
This camp is under the responsibility of ERSO. In this camp High-Intermediate skills will be taught to everybody attending camp. This staff will also be
invited from all over Europe with additional staffers from USA, Australia and Canada and will consist of Level-4-Skippers, as well as coaches with
International experience.
1) It is already said that skippers and coaches from Australia and USA will pay Loughborough a visit.
2) For the first time in ERSO's history, a Spanish Rope Skipping club will participate in the European Championships, as well as participate in Eu-Rope-Skip-Camp!!
3) For both camps ERSO and BRSA are working together to have both camps set to maximum standards.
Level 4: Coaches and teachers seminars
There will be a two-day-seminar for teachers P.E., Coaches and Level 4 skippers
to learn more about coaching, training and various aspects. The seminars will
be under the responsibility of ERSO. All sessions will be held in English and
by International experts in their field.
Allthough the program isn't fixed yet, the program will be put together in four
half-day-sessions:
1) Physiotherapy: Rope Skipping specific injuries and how to minimize the
possibility of 'creating' one.
2) Video-analyses: Impact of the body and joints and the relation to surface
and equipment.
3) Marketing & finance: How to make profit from this Sport.
4) Coaching: How to make a program without peaking too early.
The seminars will consist of both theoretical, as well as practical sessions.
Participation-fee for these seminars will be Euro 300,00. All registrants will
receive a participation-certificate after taking part in the seminar(s).
Registration can only go through Level-4-2005@ERSO.org.

7 new licensed Judges
December 10, 2004
After the Judges-course given in Germany last October, the Rope Skipping world has 7 new licensed Judges!!
Nadine Metzger was the only one to qualify for the FULL FISAC-IRSF-range, becoming a full Level-4-Judge.
Esther Laryea, Sabrina Schindler, Anika Herbrik and Hannelore Ziegler obtained the Level-3 license for difficulty.
The rest of the results can be seen on the Judges-page on the FISAC-IRSF-site...
ERSO-Board complete again
November 26, 2004
Last General Assembly we had three positions in the Board available for candidates to be voted in.
These positions were filled and the General Assembly ended for that subject.
Because of Roger stepping down, we had one seat of the nine available for the remaining of the period in the Board. This seat can be given by the Board-members without an election procedure. After communication the ERSO-Board-members decided without any exception to ask Sue Dale to fill this empty seat for the remaining of the period, which will be until the next ERSO General Assembly.
This question was then asked to Sue today. And she replied with: "Thank you for the offer of position onto the ERSO Board.
I would like to accept, and look forward to working with everyone."
So therefore: Welcome Sue!

Sue Dale (United Kingdom)
Exciting weekend.....
November 8, 2004
Last weekend the European Masters were held in Éger (Hungary).

Judith Kovacs from Hungary and

Michael Heller from Germany are the new European Masters.
The results of the competition can be found on the ERSO-page (http://www.ERSO.org) in the section [Results] under [EM-2004].
During this competition four records were broken: 1 World record and 3 European records.
Check the [Records]-section of the FISAC-IRSF-site under [Facts] to know which records were broken…
Also this weekend the General Assembly of ERSO came together and choose three new Board-members out of the six candidates.
Kata Sasvári (Hungary)
Lien Van Belle (Belgium) and
Jean Luc Eugčne (France), were voted in the Board.
Roger Smithies, one of the founding members of ERSO, stepped down as President of ERSO.
Eric Herber (The Netherlands) is his successor.

Just a couple of days more…
And then the 5th European Masters will be held in Eger in Hungary!!!
As you all should know by now, this competition will have a slightly different order of events, as well as a dynamic starting-order.
The first will be recognized by the fact that the Freestyles will be the last event.
And the dynamic starting-order will be based on the results of the previous event(s). After each event the starting-order will be shown, resulting in an order, where the best ranked skipper will start latest.
The starting-order for the first event is based on the results of the most recent World Masters (2004-Australia), European Masters (2003-Denmark) or a random number.
Just visit the [Championship-section]. Go to the [Masters] and see the list for yourself!!!
Or surf directly to http://www.erso.org/main/ec/Just-a-couple-of-days-more.htm.
We see you in 3 nights!!!

Info EC-Masters (Part 4)
October 4, 2004
In five weeks, the European Masters will have ended already.....
But before we have reached that point, there is still a lot to do.....
Registrations:
The date for registration has ended. Look at the ERSO-site at http://www.ERSO.org. Surf to the section [Championships] --> [Masters] to see all information available.....
Because of injuries and late qualifiers (in Belgium), there can be changes in the names of the registrants. The number is fixed to the minimum displayed. Changing of names / persons is allowed until November 6, 08:00.
Additional registration of skipper(s) is also still possible until November 1st. But with an additional payment of Euro 50.00 per person to be registered. This is ONLY for competitors!
All other persons registering pay additional Euro 10.00 when using the ERSO-MUKSZ-arrangement.
Payments:
Date for Payment have closed also. So far only the money of UK is being received in the Hungarian account. One of the reasons could be the missing of the BIC-code for the bank. This code is the same as the SWIFT-code. And therefore:
BANK Acc. Number : 61600070-10008937
BANK Name : Agria Takarék Szövetkezet
BANK Address : 3300 Eger Katona ter 7-9
Town of the account: Eger
Account-holder: Maklar Sports Club
IBAN Number : HU17 6160 0070 1000 8937 0000 0000
SWIFT = BIC : TAKBHUHB
All outstanding and additional payments will be accepted without a penalty-fine until October 14. All payments after that date will be fined with an additional payment of Euro 50.00. A signed and stamped by the bank copy of the bank- transfer of transferring the money before October 14 is considered proff of payment.
All fines and additional payments will have to be paid on arrival in Eger in Hungary and before participation on November 6th.
Photo's:
MUKSZ and Maklár, the Hungarian host-organizations, need digital photos of all participant together with the registration!!!
Reason for this is the production of a brochure where every participant / competitor will be shown!!!
Because of the production of a 'passe-par-tout' (= a card to enter the hall without additional charges and to have access to all facilities paid for) also all other registrants, those who have registered for the 140 or 190 Euro-package (= supporter, coach, judge....), are requested to send in their photo as soon as possible to em_hungary@yahoo.co.uk or EM-2004@ERSO.org with your name and country.
Please send in your photo before October 20!! Photo's received after this date will be processed, but will be resulting in delay upon arrival and registration.

ERSO-site will be moved
April 2nd, 2004
The ERSO-site will be moved from one provider to another.
Because of this the ERSO-site may be down for a couple of days as of today 18:00 (GMT).
Various
March 25, 2004
ERSO-site back on-line:
Due to a technical problem the ERSO-site was off-line for four days
But is completely back on-line again!
Knock-Out-2004 (May 1 and 2):
Because of shifting of priorities, Worlds heaviest Rope Skipping event in the world will this year not be organized!
FISAC-IRSF and ERSO Judges-course and certification:
As of March 13th, Liv and Lisa Murmark and Anna Waldorf are now ERSO-certified judges for Difficulty. Anna also obtained her FISAC-IRSF-certificate for Creativity!
In the weekend of March 20 and 21, 45 (!) Hongarian coaches and skippers attended the course in Budapest. It became a memorable weekend with a lot of discussions and potential solutions to improve our Sport. "Now I know what problems judges have judging Freestyles!", was one off the phrases by a Hungarian skipper. The results of the exam will be presented shortly.
May 15, the FISAC-IRSF and ERSO-Judges-exam will be held in Belgium.
June 6 will be a busy day. Planned are an exam in Switzerland in the morning and an exam in the afternoon in the UK.
New divisions in Judges-licences
As of March 12, the level of judging is divided into four categories and levels.
Level 1 is Clublevel. Level 2 National. Level 3 Continental and Level 4 FISAC-IRSF.
Each Level consists of four Classes: A is for [Head Judge]. B is [Speed]. C is [Creativity] and D is for [Difficulty].
Because of this, all those who haven't received their certificate (for example: participants from the course in Oberwart (Austria)) will receive it according to the new structure.
FISAC-IRSF and ERSO Judges-course and examination
March 7, 2004
As you all know, I have a family and I'm trying to create a new way of using multi-media in the area of Sports and Education in my own enterprise.
And because of this I have to set priorities...
Because of the non-profit-character of Rope Skipping as it is being organized nowadays in the World....
Because of the time, energy and money I have invested in developping Rope Skipping since July 1995, I have decided that, as of April 1st 2004, I won't give more then one (part of a) weekend each month for teaching a Judges-course and / or holding an exam, with a maximum of 8 a year!!

ERSO-Judge-certificates
January 29, 2004
Yesterday FISAC-IRSF presented the information regarding their 'Examination Service'.
Because of this the ERSO-Rules-committee has decided following:
1) ALL ERSO-Judges-licenses, UNLESS obtained after January 1st 2002 (= Hölvikken, July 27, 2002 or Oberwart, June 8, 2003), will no longer be valid after August 1st 2004.
This way we allow people to prepare themselves in time before the upcoming European Masters on November 6th this year.
2) An ERSO-license is no longer valid than two years after passing the exam OR four years when judged at European or World Championships OR when the person has a valid FISAC-IRSF-license.
An ERSO-certified judge can ask FISAC-IRSF for a temporary license to judge at a World Championship. This can only be done by / trough the NRSO (= National Rope Skipping Organization). The NRSO addresses their request for a temporary FISAC-IRSF-license in written at the FISAC-IRSF-Rulescommittee. If the FISAC-IRSF-Rulescommittee thinks the proposed person is qualified to do the job, then this person can become a temporary FISAC-IRSF-judge.

5 DVD's of the European Championships and the French Open Tournament!!!!
January 13, 2004
The European Championships and French Open Tournament in July 2003 in Paris was videotaped by Jeroen Van de Put.
He did this on behalf of the ERSO. Right now we have all of that on DVD (5 of them!!). Here you can find all speed and freestyle events.
In total there are over 180 (!!!) high quality videoos available for and from you!!! (Download this Excel-file to see for yourself.....)
Right now the DVD's are only available for PAL Region 2 . Sorry for that.....
These DVD's can be yours!!!
The DVD's will cost you Euro 60.00. This is including standard postage.
If you would like to receive them with sending-confirmation (which is more safe), then please add an additional Euro 5.00.
If you're interesed in this DVD-set you can order it by transferring the 60.00 / 65.00 euro to the below account.
NOTE! Use [mycost] when transferring, because ERSO is not paying for the money transfer."

As soon as the money is in the account, I will order your DVD's and they will be send with an invoice to you a.s.a.p..
These DVD's will be used to develop our Sport more. It will be used to educate coaches and judges. But also to motivate and tickle new, as well as advanced skippers.
And how about developping an easier system to judge, so that judges, as well as skippers, coaches and audience understand better what they see...
We are developping the DVD's to an even more valueble item!!
- All video's will be judged using the slow-motion and frame-by-frame option that comes with DVD!!
- All results will be put into a piece of software that will be integrated in the second generation of DVD's!!
- This second generation will also have a serious "Judge-It-Yourself"-course on it. So you can practice yourself in becoming (a better) judge!! Or understand what you have to do to improve your Freestyle. Or....
- From this second generation of DVD's, we will most likely create a CD-rom version with the same features, but with low quality video's. These CD-roms can be used on older PC's and laptops that DON'T have DVD possibilities.
And of course the second generation DVD's will be available as well!! Probably for the same price........... But we are also thinking of creating a refund of 50% for those who return the First Generation of their DVD's when purchasing the Second Generation of these DVD's.
And of course you can buy 1 set and burn copies for your friends!!! Everything can be copied!!!!
But just remember this:
- The more you copy, the less money we have to develop, the longer it will take to create the second generation........
- We are doing this for the same reason as you might purchase these DVD's: For the love of the Sport!!
I'm looking forward to your comments / suggestions / reply / order / money / ...................
Just contact me through: DVD-Paris
PS How about: asking your friends if they want a set also, so I can send it to you in ONE package! This will safe ERSO some additional money to be used for the development!!!!!!

Hello all from the land of oz
October 3, 2003
The final touches to our information booklet on the World's 2004 and PART 1 is now parked on the IRSF website which you can access by clicking the address below.
http://www.FISAC.org
Don't forget to go to page 20 of this booklet to register your initial interest in attending the World's 2004 by mailing your anticipated numbers of skippers and parents/coaches to:
FISAC secretariat
PO Box 36007
3216 Boul. Taschereau BLVD
Greenfield Park, Quebec,
Canada J4V 3N7
At this stage, there is no financial obligation and all we are seeking by December 15th, is a guesstimate of how many skippers and coaches/parents will attend. The first deposit is due February 29th. Already we have 75 people booked in, with 10 months to go. Parents are also welcome to stay on site to take advantage of the cheap accommodation, however should we pass the limit of 400, preference will be given to skippers and coaches, then parents and friends on a first in first served basis. The layout of a wing is 5 rooms, containing 6, 6, 3, 6 and 6 persons. We recommend that each 6 person room contain a team of 5 plus one adult.
More tid bits of info will follow on a regular basis. We know you will all have the time of your lives.
Best wishes

Triples in the Master-competition
September 5, 2003
Dear FISAC-Members,
At the bottom of this mail, you see the result of the FISAC-rulecommittee about the triples in the Master-competition. This change is been ratified and agreed by the Board of FISAC.
Normaly, this should have been announced by September 1st. We are a little too late but a lot of discussions were needed. So therefore I want to apologise on behalf of FISAC.
I certainly want to thank the rulecommittee for their great work. It was a typical "democratic" decision and as you all know: "democracy needs time, but the result is so much better".
I hope you will still be able to inform your clubs/skippers about this rulechange. The FISAC-rules on our website ( www.fisac.org ) will be adapted.
It should be logical that the National RS Organisations use the same rules for their selection for the WorldMasters!
As you know, there will be in Australia - during the WC 2004 - a worldcup for demonstration-teams. These rules are not finished yet. But the rulecommittee will work very hard to finish them before the end of September. Maybe, you can inform your members about this "upcomming" rulechange.
On behalf of the FISAC President, Ron Kappert
Kind regards,
Geert Hoste,
Secr.gen. FISAC
New rule regarding Triple-Under's in Masters:
1) Maximum scoring possible is limited to 500.
2) Unlimited time (NO change in present rule).
3) Number of triples multiplied by two. (NO change in present rule).
4) One attempt.
Motivation for this rulechange:
1) Because of the limitation to a maximum 500 points we minimize the number of consequetive Triple Unders in a competition in all fareness.
2) Because of the limitation to one attempt only, we maximize the number of consequetive Triple Unders to 250; the fact that two skippers, who participated in this 2,5 month-discussion, voted in favour of this rulechange made it easier for the FISAC-IRSF-rulescommittee to accept this change.
3) Because of this limitation AND keeping the number of Triple Unders being doubled AND because of the one attempt only, we listen to the HEALTH-aspect that is mentioned by a large number of skippers and coaches (but hasn't been researched yet.........).
New rule regarding calculating the results for Masters:
Using the ranking system only. This means: first place in each event gets 10pts, second 9 and so on. The rankingscores for all four events together gives us the final ranking!
Motivation for this rulechange:
a) We don't change the characteristics of the Masters, which is a four-disciplines-event.
b) All four disciplines are more or less in balanced scoring / proportions.
The rule regarding a tie for an event in Masters should / must be:
If there is a tie to be broken, the place points will be added together for the participants who tie and divide the total place points by the number who are tied.
Motivation for this rulechange to announce this to the rest of the world would be:
No single skipper has shown absolute superiority over the other. Example: Two skippers ended first in a field with ten competitors. None of them should be given the 10 points. Obviously, the next skipper after the tied skippers would get the next place point. That would be 8 points in this example, but 7 points if 3 skippers were to be tied.
The rule about a tie in the final results is still valid!

August 15, 2003
"Mr. C" had his surgery on Monday ( August 11th) -- It was successful, and he is already out of intensive care, and even walking a bit. :-)
This new method, he under went, is called "the maze" and it involves a mini-7" chest opening. The valve was successfully repaired!
Beth Cendali (his wife) said he will probably be in the hospital until this Sunday or Monday but won't be able to fly home till the 21st of August.
He has been getting some of your mail and really appreciates it!! Recovery should be about 6 weeks. Our thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery are with him.
Lets keep those letters coming. On behalf of Mr. C and his family, I wish to thank-you one and all for all your
kind letters and wishes you have sent to him for his speedy recover.
We thank Megan Leuthold for keeping us all updated.

August 8, 2003
"Mr. C" left for Cleveland yesterday-Aug 7th-for his heart surgery. He is under going pre-op testing today, the 8th. If all goes well, he will undergo surgery to fix his mitral valve on the next Mon, Tues, or Wed. The technique that is being used in fairly new and innovative--they don't need to open up the whole chest. I think he would enjoy hearing from everyone. He is worried, as anyone would be. His wife will be with him and the kids will be there for part of the time. If you could send him a card to help cheer him up, I know he would appreciate it. Send him some of your funny e-mail jokes too! He won't be able to fly for 10 days, so he's not expecting to come home till around the 21st or so. He probably won't be in the hospital all that time, so aim for the earlier dates.

Eu-Rope-Skip-2004
Paris - July 24, 2003
Dear Board-members, Coaches, JuniorStaffers and skippers,
Yesterday the ERSO-Board has had various meetings. During one of those meetings, next years Camp, EU-Rope-Skip 2004, was subject of conversation.
With the two days of camp behind us, we came to following facts :
1) It is ERSO’s opinion that present formula isn’t suitable any more for EU-Rope-Skip as it was and still is being used today.
2) Until today NO organization has offered his / her services & facility to the ERSO.
3) Although coaches were asked to follow severall guidelines, agreements,…some coaches and skippers decide and act to their own convenience.
4) ERSO is considering several alternatives ( such as a juniorstaff-camp, regional camps, judgescourses, …
5) Because of the fact we have next year (July 20 - 28) the World Championships in Australia, where all topskippers and staffers will be present……..
So therefore, the ERSO-Board has decided NOT to organize EU-Rope-Skip 2004 under present conditions.
With regards,
THE ERSO-Board
BUT….
We would like to receive your input about this (and previous) years EU-Rope-Skip!!!! Please write this down on this piece of paper (you can also write your opinion on the back of this paper) and E-mail it to Eu-Rope-Skip-2004@ERSO.org
Too early........... This will be the LAST information about Paris

1) Although the distances are short...... The "Domaine" has a GREAT road on it's facility to go from one to the other location by ROLLESKATES / INLINE- or little 'step'. So bring this with you IF / WHEN you have the space to do so.......
2) Today I've heard from Maarten Goedemé that Zinia Fenske, from Gauteng South Africa, has got the support she needs to come over to Paris!!!!! She booked her ticket and will be in camp!!!!
This is a unexpected surprise for both ERSO, FISAC-IRSF and French organizations. We don't know how to show her our hospitality yet, but of course she is more then welcome to learn us from her country (together with Maarten) and to learn from us (together with Maarten)!!
3) The most likely schedule for the competitions will be:

10.45: Freestyles
12.30: Endresults (NO medals)

(Hopefully) LAST information about Paris
July 12, 2003
Dear Paris-skippers,
1) The hall for the European Championships AND for the l'OF (= l'Open de France = French Open Tournament) has changed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Due to circumstances the French Organization, and therefor also ERSO had to change the Sportscomplex!!!!!
The competition will now be held in:
Centre du Sport "Delaune"
16 rue Robespierre
94200 Ivry
Ŕ 100 mčtres du métro mairie d'ivry!!
PLEASE share this information with other skippers, parents, coaches, friends, family........
2) Make sure that you bring your freestyle and demo-music with you ON CD (and / or MD)!!!!!
The freestyle shouldn't be to difficult!!!! But don't ask why you should bring your demo- / performancemusic. JUST DO IT!! Nike is still NOT sponsoring Rope Skipping ;-)
ONLY 8 days to go........
Just came back from Paris
July 9, 2003
(Because of obligations to familylife both Geert Hoste (Beach) and Eric Herber (Sweden), this item is presented later than planned......... All communications to and from them have a delay of 3 to 5 days because Internet in a tent or at the beach is not common!! I know: when you have enough money, then Vodaphone provides you with.......)
Dear Eu-rope-skip-ers,
We just came back from Paris to check the evolution of the organisation of the competition and the Europeskip-camp.
Everything looks very good, although still a lot has to be done! The French Organisation did his very very very best to welcome everybody and to disappoint NOBODY. This is greatl! It was easier for them to tell everybody: 350 and no more and to disappoint 217 children. But no, they worked very very hard and found some solutions.
This will be the first camp with so many participants (567). This means also that it won't be a camp as the years before. We have 5 different sportshalls and all participants are lodged in 5 different hotels. Everything is in the neighbourhood of 5 to 10 minutes walking.
We have a perfect juniorstaff and a lot of volunteers helping. But we need YOUR help also. If you come to the camp to complain about every detail, maybe it will be better to stay home. But if you come with a positive attitude and with a little flexibilty, it can be a great camp. So please, bring this message also to your skippers, friends and / or coache(s). If we help eachother, Paris will become an unbelievable experience!
AND.... they have a nice surprise for everybody so they will all forget every small inconveniance during the camp.
This is a strange message, I know, but I saw some e-mails from some persons. And I saw also which problems the organisors had to solve, and also the energy they all put in finding a perfect solution for everybody. So the least we can give them is a little help and respect for what they did and will do.
See you soon in Paris!
Geert Hoste
Secr. Gen. ERSO
Free State, South Africa
July 4, 2003
As you all know, Maarten Goedemé was in South Africa for one year!!!!!
Here is some respons of what has been achieved!!
Hallo Sir
In the Free State, South Africa I have started rope skipping in April 2003 and first trained some coaches, then from May we held recreation activities for children.
The project really took of when Maarten Goedeme (World champion from Belgium ) visit the Free State. Maarten and I presented an introduction workshop in Bethlehem were 30 teachers attended (30 May), the following day 31 May we gave a rope skipping course in Bloemfontein and 24 people attended, the next day Sunday 1 June we went to Thaba Nchu a very poor rural area and a workshop were all so presented there.
All three of these workshops were great successes although completely different and unique. I were very sad that Maarten had to leave the following day to return to Cape Town becauce of his experiance and skills in this sport which could have assisted us grately. I then went to Cape Town to attend Facilitators training on the 20-21 June (presented by Maarten) .
We started with recreation activities in rope skipping to introduce it to the Children at Mangaung indoor center, very poor children and alot of them are aids orphens. As soon as the schools open we will target the schools these children attended. From there we will try to establish clubs at these schools.
One of the obsticles we have is skipping ropes. Marti Heri, have made arrangements to produce the various styles of Ropes,
locally made & still affordable complying with international standards, as there is nothing on the local market which serves the specific needs this code. They need a very big order to start with the mould and producing it. the cost of a rope will be R35.00 equal to 3,5euro. 3000 units @ R35.00 = R 105 000 and is 10 500Euro.
I am sending you this e-mail so that you will know what has been happening in the Free State.
Kind regards from South Africa, Free State
Anna Gutter: gutter@fsdsr.co.za
There is a lot of enthusiastic people envolved and we will surely grow in this new sport code.

One of the events will be the "Surprise event" (August 14-20)
The organization is looking for a high level Rope Skipping Performance Team. As the say it themselves:
"Please, keep in mind that this will be the first time we introduce rope jumpers into the event thus we want to make it a spectacular show with future performances. I would like a team that is experienced in performing and entertaining as well as champions in the art of rope jumping. I do realize that rope jumping is a sport and we will definitely highlight on that but we have to make it appealing as well. Having said that, if you could find me suitable candidates I would really appreciate it."
At present stage, the organization hasn't decided yet weather or not Rope Skipping will be part of the Surprise event, but at this stage, both Board of FISAC-IRSF, as well as ERSO share the opinion that this is a unique question and opportunity to present Rope Skipping to a wide audience.
Having said this, I invite all teams who think they can fullfill following requirements:
- Availabilty in Dubai from August 14 to 20.
- High level Rope Skipping.
- High level Performance.
- Detailed plan of costs (including transportation, fees and everything that might seem importent).
- Availability of a video of the performance; either on VHS (Pal or NTSC), CD or DVD.
Applicants are invited to send an E-mail to:
Eric@ERSO.org
